I've got two desktop pc's running Virtual PC 2007, they are 192.168.0.2 and 3 going through a ADSL router. When I have a VM running on each (SERVER01 and SERVER02) I can ping 02 from 01 and access c$ etc. but not in the other direction. The VM's are using the desktops NIC at their network device and when running from the same PC they can ping each other. They are using static IP 10.0.0.11 and 12 respectively.

Any ideas why SERVER02 can't ping 01 unless they are run from the same machine?

Solved the issue myself, had tried to connect both machines using a hub and static addresses - still the same issue. Turned off the firewall on the machine hosting SERVER01 and was able to ping in both directions.

All I needed to do was configure the 10.0.0.0 range as trusted in the firewall config and that sorted it.
