On my companies' network I am beginning to replace old NT Workstations with XP Pro PCs. I am having a problem with a particular PC I recently built up with XP which will not accept nor send net send messages from/to NT machines on the network. For example when typing net send pc35 test I get a responce "An error occured while sending a message to pc35. The Message alias could not be found on the network". Ironically I can send as well as receive net sends from other XP/2k boxes after some hesitation. I had thought that by changing the name of the PC in question would correct the problem however that did not work. Help would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone is interested we have a solution to this problem. After rebuilding the OS, renaming the PC, replacing the NIC card, etc. what finally worked was we replaced the graphics driver from the one that Dell supplied to us with a driver supplied directly from the Intel web site. The graphics card on the PC in question is an Intel intigrated card. The above procedure worked, we are now able to send/receive net sends from/to the PC on NT, XP and 2k.

No way! WTF would a GRAPHICS driver have to do with network communications?? UNLESS there was IRQ sharing.. well, even that sounds like a stretch. I wish someone could thoroughly explain what happened here. I'm very curious for future refence/troubleshooting.
