Hi list,

I got 2 servers in load balancing running the sames apps.
I got 27 users on box1 and 9 users on box2.???

I verify the load balancing setting and it's fine. all the same parameters.
my published apps are fine... a checked. both servers have the same P-A.
I verify the process and it's fine regarding the number of users per box.
there is no rogues process either
Windows 2k with all the same patches.
my nics are have the same setting too
the browsers seem fine to me.

now why is there a so big difference between these box?
when I open my published apps I always it the box 1, the most busy?

Am i missing something?

Do the 2 servers have the same amount of memory and are the processor speeds the same? I too use 2 servers, however 1 is much more powerful so it gets the majority of use. I also am using the advanced load management evaluator.

both server are identical, mem, disk, cpus.
for one reason the master browser seem to see box 1 as always available.

I can understand a 2 or 3 users diff but close to 20!!???
it used to work fine before.

what is the advance load management evaluator?

Are you running Metaframe XP or 1.8? If you are running XP, then the Advanced evaluator balances the load in the following order: Page Swaps,Memory Usage, CPU Utilization. You realize it is reading the first server in the farm to base this on, so that server will usually have a bit more usage.

The default evaluator uses only the following criteria: Server User Load. A somewhat nefarious term that includes many different criteria including those in the advanced evaluator, but not necessarily in that order of importance.

Hope this helps.

Actually the Default evalulator is just the amount of users on the server/app based on 100 users per server or a load value of 10,000. I currently have a problem with one of my three servers in the farm not calculating the CPU load at all which makes the load calculations incorrect on my farm this could be your issue but keep reading... If you just want to have the same number of users per server just choose the default for apps and server load management. If you want a bit of real load balancing you should balance to your servers weakness, for my servers this is CPU so I have created a evaluator for users per server and CPU. You can see the actual server load by typing at a dos prompt qfarm /app for app and server load or qfarm /load for just server load. Remember that load is calculated per server and per app so you need to apply load evaluators under each published application and under the individual servers.

Hope this helps,
