Problem with Exchange 2000 GAL Distribution Groups

I have had a problem with a couple of Distribution lists, when messages are sent to these groups they intermittently sit in the categorizer and are not delivered, the only way I have found to resolve this problem has been to delete the group and re-create it but this would not be a practical solution if one of my large lists stopped working. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
