Hi,
For 2 weeks now I have been experiencing the same crazy problem in two different customers. One has a 403V1 3.2.61 and the other has a 500 4.0.14. One telephone in each site (a 5420 in the first and a 5410 in the second) don't give a proper dial tone when picking up the handset. Both give, instead of a continuous sound, a sound that stops and starts and stops and starts etc. If you press 9 to access an outside line everything works as it should. Generally speaking both phones seem to be working perfectly except for the dial tone. Both phones have been upgraded to their system's corresponding version. I think the problem is with the ext. but I cannot find the why. Even a reboot doesn't help. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Those phone are forwarded !!!
*02 will solve it :-)

I am not sure. I was today in one of the clients and I called the direct line of the phone which has the problem and it rung. Can it be forwarded and yet ring at the corresponding phone?!

Have a look in Manager and see!!

It should not but what you discribe is a diverted tone
When you do a *00 it will reject all forward include noaswer and busy
Is the tone gone then or did you not try the *02 code ?

On the 4.0 site look in System status and you will see there too!

No I did not try the *02 or the *00. To tell you the truth I didn't think of it. Will post as soon as I try it. Thanks.

Look in the display. what leeters do you have. Stutter dialtone indicates either call forward or DND is on.
