Problem with BDC

The other day we had to promote the orginal BDC to a PDC. On the original PDC we did a repair install of NT 4.0, after this we promoted it back to a PDC. Now the BDC can't communicate with the PDC to sync the user accounts. Help!

I could be off on this, but check your server manager to make sure all the computernames are listed correctly, with no entries for incorrect names of PCD or BDC. If all is well, remove the BDC, then re-join the domain with the BDC. I've seen that work before, but I can't give you specific reasons why! Good Luck!

Check your wins, lmhosts, and dns settings to ensure the bdc can see the pdc. A good check to verify you have connectivity is to ping by name.
