We have WIN 2K domain and 2 DC (1DC-primary DNS& 2DC- secondary DNS) in. We use static IP addresses. When we shut down 1DC, network works fine. However, if 1DC stop response any reason (problem with NIC or energy problem, etc.) network doesn’t work properly, i.e workstations work fine, but DNS doesn’t work. It looks like AD problem. What could be the problem? Thanks.

AD relies heavily on DNS. If dns isn't working, ad won't either. Need to find if it's a dns problem, or ad problem. Glen A. Johnson
