I am supporting a third party payroll system operating in Access.

I have a user that as soon as she clicks on the shortcut on her desktop to the database gets the message

"MS Access has encountered a problem and has to close"

The associated error is
App Name MSAccess.exe
Ver 8.0.0.412
Mod VBA332.dll
Mod Ver 3.0.0.7019

Any idea why this happening and if so how we get around this. Does Access need resinatlling!!

Is Access 97 by the way and nothing has chaned on the machine. This error has suddenly happened

Can you get to the DB through explorer? If so, have you tried deleting the shortcut and making another one? That may work for you. If you get the same error when you try to open the db through access or explorer, I'm not sure what you would do to fix that.

Divide and conquer!

Does MS Access run without the shortcut?

Can another user open up the database from another computer?

This will isolate if you have a problem with Access on the local computer, or a problem with the database
