Problem when testing 2 Cisco routers and 2 Adtran

Hello,
We are trying to test two Cisco routers (2610) with WIC-1T cards and 2 Adtran TSU 120e units, before using these for a new Point-to-Point T1.

Router 1 is connected to Adtran A with a V.35 DTE serial cable. Same goes for Router 2 and Adtran B. The Adtran units are connected via a crossover T1 cable; Adtran B is providing the clock.

The serial interface on each router is configured for HDLC encapsulation.

For some reason, the line protocol for Serial 0/0 on Router 2 keeps jumping up and down. (Serial 0/0 up, line protocol is up, then down).

If you do a show controller on Router 2’s Serial 0/0, it only shows “RX clock detected” -- no transmit clock. (Router 1 shows both TX and RX clock detected).

What can be wrong? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried swapping the Adtrans around, for testing sake. Whereby Adtran A would be the DCE (clocker), do experience the same type of erroring? As the Adtrans may not be able to provide a decent clocking to the circuit..
