Im using a direct connection cable to connect my laptop to my desktop pc, ive set the laptop to be the host and the desktop pc to be the guest (the stuff that needs moving is on the laptop). The desktop pc connects fine at 4mb/s, but now im stuck, how can i copy some files to the desktop pc?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Well I'm satisifed with where I'm at now. I just hope SuarOn got things working - or at least no worse off than he was when he started! :)

heh, nope still cant move the files :/

SaurOn,

Have you tried doing it from the other end? I can't recall anymore.

You know, flip things around (share the opposite machine's drives, use the other desktop to copy)...

When mine was at its WORST I could still go the the opposite end, type \\machine into Start|Run and browse from there.

Since this thread isn't long enough... ;-)

I have recently found that I don't need to shut down the PCMCIA LAN adapter in the DCC guest machine to get full access to shares on the DCC host.

I can achieve the same result by releasing the card's IP address via winipcfg on the guest (Win95) laptop.
Code:
(Internet)-<router>---<PC>==<laptop>
          <printer> | <HD>    <HD>
                    |
                    |-<PC><HD>
                    |
              <HD><PC><printer>

== is parallel DCC cable
-- is ethernet
router has inbuilt print server
The laptop can now see everything using the DCC parallel connection through the WinXP desktop PC. Other PCs can all see the laptop's shared resources as well.
