problem sharing printer on win 2000

hi all.
1. problem: i cant share printer or file on windows 2000. All other machines are win 98.We have Novell 6 network.
On same computer i have win 98 and if i share there, everything is ok. In network connection i cant find "file and printer sharing for netware network" is that THE problem? also cant install that thing! is any other solution to do this thing¿

Hi Veljo
Log on to the computer using local administrators account.
Maksure client for microsoft networks is installed and install the file and printer share service.
You should now be able to share a printer/file for other microsoft clients.

i also tried to share printer without any spaces in name, but without any success if that might be problem

We have had a problem here with sharing printers using windows 2000 pro with win98 on a NT 4 network.
The way round it was to go to the win98 client and into network properties click on the access tab and enable share level access control, you don't need to supply a password.
Let me know how you get on.

i already have share level access control enabled.
if i want to enable the other: user level access control i have only NT servers available, which is not good in my case (Novell)

I have worked on a Novell network with win 98 and xp computers,although it was maybe a year ago now, I'm trying to think of the setup I used.
Have you installed the client software for Novell?
and the netware print services?

Client software is installed and works fine....I think the problem is with this win 2000 #$%%#!& , because if i use win 98 on the same computer - then sharing (printer and file) works without any problems.
In setup for printers on win 2000 there is option of i think its called something like additional drivers, i installed drivers for win98 platforms too, but no difference.
Probably 1 big difference is in Network propeties: there is NO "file and printer sharing for netware network"? like in win 98.
On network is connected 1 HP 5500 printer and works fine. Problem is local printer.

about Netware print services: is that "thing" should be installed on local comp. or server?
or is that "thing" already installed , cause we use network printer?

Sorry I have not got back to you but I have been away for a day or two.
Anyway the netware printer services need to be installed I think you do this by using the client CD Rom that came with the novel setup.
But one thing that confuses me is that if printerservices is installed for a ms Client then you should still get an option to share the printer, This could be a problem with your OS.

In case the shares in win2k are there, and you do see them from win98, but can't access them:

In win2k, in control panel/users, add the users that need access to the win2k shares.

tnx guys for helping me out. I replaced Novell Client (on 98 comps) with the new one. I added user on win 2000 computer who needed access (when i added only guest it didnt work).... now ... sometimes it works fine, but mostly it shows that printer is offline. I can see win 2000 computer in network neighbourhood, i also see printer that is shared, but it's still telling me - printer is offline.

ONE problem solved - NEXT is comming up - probably when we solve this problem the printer will then find some personal problem ;-).
