Trying to install Win XP on an SATA HD. I have the HD connected to SATA 1 (not RAID SATA 1). I have a CD-R on IDE 1 as a master and a DVD-ROm on IDE 2 as a master.
Windows cannot seem to recognize the HD. At the begining of setup I've pressed F6 to install the SATA driver. Afterwards it continues the install, but then says it cannot detect a HD. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Are your SATA options 1 and 2, or 0 and 1?
The lowest should be bootable, otherwise try removing the drive from the primary IDE and booting from the secondary.

Andy.

As Freestone says - floppy in and working, and you have copied the necessary drivers to floppy disk (ie, when you pressed F6 you did load SATA drivers)?

I installed a floppy drive and loaded drivers for the SATA chipset (F6 during setup), still no luck. I ended throwing in a 20GB HD on an IDE. Got XP installed, enabled the drive in BIOS (BIOS sees it) installed the drivers again, when I rebooted, XP detected new hardware, went through the wizard and manual several times. Still no luck.
Thanks everybody for all your help.
I'll try to contact ASUS on Monday.
Thanks again for your help!
