I've tried to install the VB.Net resource kit on my XP computer but I cannot get the application to load (even though it says it has installed correctly). I have IIS and VS.Net installed (version 2003) as well as SQL Server 2000 and the installation has successfully created the Virtual Directories in IIS and they are pointing to the correct location on my harddrive for the files yet I get a page not found error when I try to launch the welcome.aspx file. I did make sure that I had ASP.Net installed correctly before installing the resource kit (by running \microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_regiis -i) and I received no errors during installation.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I had this problem, but it was because i was running apache server. I stoped that and it worked. It doesnt sound like you use that though. WHat happenes if you go What does it display. Uve maybe already tried this.

Thanks- no, I'm not running Apache. When I try to just browse to I get a page not found error (though I can find pages fine by putting in the full URL to a page). I've checked the default page/extension settings and they look fine. I don't program that much for the web so it may very well be an IIS setting (I let it pretty much install with the defaults) so any suggestions are appreciated!

I was able to contact someone at Microsoft and he said the problem could have been caused by the sequence in which everything was installed. He had me do the following, which solved the problem (a friend had the same problem and this worked for him as well):

1. Uninstall the VB.Net Resource Kit
2. Delete the directory "Visual Basic Files"
3. Uninstall "Microsoft Framework 1.1"
4. Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Add/Remove Windows Components -> Uncheck IIS to uninstall IIS
5. Reboot
6. Re-Install IIS
7. Install the VB.Net Resource Kit (it will install the .Net Framework 1.1 itself)
