Problem installing JAVA

I have Windows XP SP2 and when tried to instal java from their site all going fine until close to the end. Than come some message saying that cannot be install and blah, blah...
I need java for my LimeWire Pro, so can someone explain what to do. I think problem is with ActiveX but do not know where that is and if it goog idea to disable it.
