Hi,

I'm unable to install Exchange 2007 RTM. During the prerequisites check the following error is logged:

Error:
There was a problem accessing the registry on this computer. This may happen if the Remote Registry service is not running; it may also indicate a network problem.

I've checked everything, the remote registry service is running, on both the local machine where exchange will be installed as well as on both domain controllers we have. Domain controllers are also running fine, so network problems are also not an option.

Any ideas ? Now Exchange 2007 is finally there and I cannot install it....

Firewall?
User access rights?
Windows 2003 SP1?
Anything in the event log?

Hi,

no firewall. Is disabled on the domain controller and the server where exchange is begin installed. Domain Controller is Windows 2003 SP1 R2, I'm installing under administrator account. Tried everything but cannot get it to work. Exchange BPA 2007 readiness check says everything is fine. Only setup complains that it cannot access the registry. Setup /preparead worked fine, schema is updated successfully.

I also can successfully connect to the registry of the domain controller from the exchange server using regedit, so it looks like the Remote Registry service is not the real problem here.

You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: ExSetupUI.exe; 4912; 1753; Error 6d9 from HrGetServersForRole.

Hi,

The binding order on the NICS was the issue. The server has a second network card which connects to the ISCSI backbone. This card only has TCP/IP enabled and no file and print sharing or Microsoft Client. However, this card was the first in the binding order list. I moved it to the bottom of the list and reran setup and now setup continues.
