Problem in Extending Logical volume

Hi guys,
my harddisk is around 9GB,
One PP=16 megabytes
Total PP's=546
Free PP's=501
used PP's=45

the problem is the root filesystem is used 100%.I tried to extend the logical volume using extendlv, and then I used reorgvg, but it's not extending(used df -I to verify) although it's showing the increased number of logical partitions on the extended logical volume, 'am not able to use the remaining free space on the harddisk.Please help me out

To expand a filesystems, simply do a "chfs -a size=+xxxx" where xxx is a number. Bear in mind, if you want to expand a filesystem, you have to double xxxx.

For example,

chfs -a size=+32768 /

Will expand / by 16MB.

Hi,

why don't you try smit ?
Just go to "Change/show characteristics of a Journaled File System".
There you'll find the actual size of your Filesystem.
Then overwrite it with the new total size your Filesystem shall have (but consider the 512byte blocks.... if you want to add 100MB you'll have to use the double size of 100MB)...

Should be working then. If not smit might tell you a little bit more of what went wrong...

lsfs -q | more to see if the logical volume and the filesystem are equal...if not you
increased the logical volume but not the filesystem?
