I have some .dbf files that are using .nsx extension index file.
Does anyone know what i need to add to Access or ODBC in order to import these files?
I can view the .dbf file in a .dbf viewer but that is about it.
Thanks in advance!

1. Click the "Tables" tab
2. Right click in the white space.
3. Click "Import"
4. In the "Files of Type" (at the bottom) find your Type ".dbf" etc.
5. Click the "Import" button
6. If there is an Index file it will prompt you for it.

Then it will add the .dbf file to your Access database

I have tried that already with all the different dbf formats that are listed and none of them work.

I believe this database file is an xbase .dbf used with a program written in C++.

So are you getting an Error?
Did you try all of the Dbase's III IV and V?
Did you try importing it as FoxPro???

Another option would be to open the dbf in MS Excel and then save it in an Excel format. You can the import this file into Access.

There are three minor problems that need to be dealt with when using this method.

1. When you open an xbase file in Excel, sometimes it will change the format for date fields to character. All memo fields will be seen as character fields as well.

2. You will lose the contents of any memo fields for the table.

3. You will need to manually recreate the associated indexes for the table.

I know this isn't the most efficient way of doing things but if you end up running out of ideas or time it's always an option.

I tried all of those options
The error message I get is "External table isnt in the expected format"
As I mentioned I can read the file with no problem in a raw DBF viewer program but that program doesnt allow me to do anything else with the data

Hi There.

Has anyone solved this problem yet?

I am currently grappling with this exact problem.
