Im having problems Imaging Netware 5.1 with PowerQuest Server Image. does anybody have had any luck imaging nw 5.1 to a novel server?
I'm stuck trying to image it to netware volume, don't know how to create the dos client to use.
any ideas?

What server are you using and what Network Card?

The server is an HP netserver pentium pro 200mhz, the NIC is a 3com905x
my problem is how to create the a dos novell client to connect to a network drive and put the image there.

thanks.

marvhuffaker, why is the reason you don't like Server Magic?
What else do you recommend for imaging netware 5.1 server?

thanks.

Because it is a dead product which is no longer supported. Somewhere during the time between NW5.0 SP3 and NW5.0 SP6 release, a change was made to NetWare that caused Server Magic to trash the partition tables when doing basic operations. And there is no patch or fix for it. Once you've done it, you're hosed. Support for Server Magic is long gone. I am pretty confident to say that SM will have the same problems on NW5.1.

A much better product is Portlock Storage manager, and it is still in development and fully supports NetWare 5.1. Novell uses it for it's Demo images and it works really well. Supports NSS volumes, etc.

I don't like the fact that the product need to be installed on the server first, Server image is a dos based program and doesn't harms nothing too bad that is not that easy to setup and the support it's gone.

thanks.

I've never used Server Image.. is that different? maybe you'll have better luck with that but I would still recommend Portlock.
