I have a remote client running Windows XP Home edition. I have installed PN 8.0. When I try to launch the connection icon, I get an error message stating "The connection to the Citrix Metaframe Server was interrupted, trying to reconnect..." (To which it never does.) THis machine is connected to the internet via DSL.

Funny thing is, I just replaced an old unit with this one and the old unit works fine. COnnects without a problem. Difference is, old unit is running Windows 98, still running PN 8.0. If I unplug this unit and plug in the old one, it's fine. Plug this unit back in, I get the same message. Therefore, I don't believe it's the internet connection.

ANother interesting piece is that I can't get to Webaccess through the browser either. When I type in the URL, I'm prompted for a username and password, but when I enter it, I get a message in teh browser window saying "access denied"

I'm thinking something in the XP OS is not configured properly or is configured keeping this from working. I am not having any trouble with internet browsing. My first thought was that ICF was causing a problem, but I verified that it is not enabled...

ANyone have any thoughts?

Hi,

Sounds like a Licensing issue, can you delete the existing key in:-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSLicensing\StoreLicense000
License001

You may need to delete both of these!

And ensure that the user can create a new one. There are more posts regarding this issue in this forum.

Cheers,
Carl.

I actually had thought the same thing... But there were no keys to delete and I know that I have 25 licenses on my CItrix Server with only 8 in use...

I thought about the Terminal Services licensing too, but I thought XP and 2000 weren't affected by that... just Win98 and below. At any rate, I'm sure I have availabel TS licenses... but I'll go double check.

Hmmm... Not to beat a dead horse, but this is really frustrating me. I just can't get this thing to work.

I really don't feel it's a licensing issue... though I've been wrong before. I know I have available TS Cals on my Server, I have 25 pooled Citrix CALs with plenty available, and I am logged in as an administrator on the PC, so I have full access to the registry and am definately have write access to the MSLicensing Key.

I noticed this machine also has Norton Internet Security and made sure it's firewall portion as well as Microsofts ICF are both disabled.

The client still won't connect. At this point, it tries to connect to the server, makes the connection, then tries to negotiate the connection and pretty much just drops away, no error messages, no nothing - leaving me back at the Program Manager.

I've installed probably close to 100 clients before and never had any trouble with any of them. This is the very first time, however, I've ever tried putting a client on XP Home... The client DOES work with XP Home, right? I know RDP doesn't but I was pretty sure ICA does.

I've tried deleting the whole key, letting it recreate, differnet internet connections, deferent versions of the client, differnet users with differnet rights levels logged into the PC...

Really, any other advice would be welcome.

Hi,

Citrix cals are pooled so we can ignore them.

TS Cals are given to each PC that connects to a server via RDP or ICA. You'll need 1 per PC that connects. If you check your TS Licensing server has it already given that machine a license, it may require resetting, that will need you to speak with the Microsoft Clearing house.

What happens if you don't run your local Firewall? Could be that, not knowing Norton, can't help you there!

As for RDP not working on XP Home, wrong! It works perfectly, I use it to administer my Web Server in Remote Admin Mode.

How about logging in as the actual administrator and trying what a user tries, with all the programs running (ie Firewall), what happens?

Hope this helps,
Carl.
