Hi,

I created a report, displaying a chart. The background of the chart is transparent and behind the chart, there should be displayed a jpg. This works great in Crystal Reports, but when I execute this report in a viewer, the jpg can`t be seen. It seems, that in the viewer, the chart-background 'forgot' to be transparent.
What can I do?
I tried it with Crystal Reports 8 and 8.5.

Thanks a lot.

Have you double checked to make sure that all necessary DLLs are available to the Crystal viewer? Or are you executing the viewer on the same workstation as the designer?

I had a similar problem and in the end had to create a wmf file (similar to the image file I had) and use it as the background of the chart.

Sorry I can't be of any more help

Andy

Thank you for your replies.

to jdemmi:
The viewer is executed on the designer workstation. I suppose that all needed dlls are available. Do you have another idea?

to Andi:
Due to your response, I created a wmf-file. I tried to insert the wmf-file (as picture), but Crystal puts a message that the file-format is unknown. Is there a trick to insert a wmf-file?

I use cr 8.5 and in chart analyser I click on the chart and choose format selected item (the button with A on it) then you should have the option to define the 'picture' to act as a backdrop (towards the bottom right of the dialog screen). You can then browse to the wmf file(must be a wmf file).

Worked fine for me

Hi Andy,

Thank you very much for your helpful reply. I tried it with an exisisting wmf-File and it works great!

But now I have another problem: The picture I want to insert is a .jpg/.bmp-file. I dont't know, how to convert a raster file to a vector file... Could you help me again?

Sue

Sorry I dont think I can be or much help..I dont know of any converters(if you think about it its a very difficult thing to do). I ended up creating a new wmf file...a simplified version of the bmp I had.

I used metafile companion,
Hope this helps

Andy
