Problem backing up local files

We have new HP Windows 2003 servers, with SAN and SDLT320 autoloader. Backup Exec 9.1 is installed on the file & print server, and is configured to backup our Exchange, SQL and file data, all of which is on the SAN.

It backs up Exchange & SQL without problem, but it fails on the 'local' files (i.e. D: drive on file server is a volume on SAN). The error it gives is 'Access is denied to the Remote Agent. Ckeck the logon account for the specified device'.

The files are selected as local files in BE, not as remote shares. I am able to drill down on the local drive to select whatever files/folders I like, so it is NOT a permissions issue. The credentials being used are the same for all three servers, and is an enterprise admins account.

What's really mystifying is that the backup worked for the first couple of days before it failed. No changes had been made to the system between the successful and failed jobs.

We've already removed and re-installed BE, and the identical thing happened (i.e. worked a couple of times, then fails).

I've tried selecting the files as if they reside on a remote server, with the same result.

Any suggestions appreciated.
