In our office LAN there is a problem accessing a WindowsXP pc. We can access other computers from this PC but if we try to access this PC from any other computer in the LAN then it gives the following error:

" ComputerName is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this Server to find out if you have access permission. Access is denied. O.K."

This computer is not a Server, can someone provide me a hint to solve this problem?

Thanks

Right click the network tray icon, Open Network Connections. Right click the Local Area Network connection, Properties, highlight Internet Protocol - TCP/IP and click Properties, Advanced, WINS tab, and click to 'enable Netbios over TCP/IP'

Check for firewall issues that may be blocking Netbios traffic, including the Native XP SP2 firewall, and "hidden" firewalls in antivirus software - PC-Illan, for example is notorious for this. VPN client software can cause this with their hidden firewall component - CICSCO VPN software, for example, is notorious for this.

Check that the "Node Type" shown with an ipconfig /all is either Broadcast, Hybrid or Not defined. Any other selection will not work for peer-to-peer networking.

I have checked. There is only Trend Micro antivirus. The Netbios over TCP/IP are already enabled. There is no firewall. But the problem exists.

If i try to connect by its IP it gives the same error.

open ur Antivirus - In Trusted tab - Put IP address of the machine that is trying to access the other machine.this should work and make sure that firewall is disabled
