Pro 200 - VPN Setup

i have a sonicwall pro 200 at the office and want to enable a few employees to access the company through a VPN connection, i have never set them up this way before, been using remote access for the 2 ppl and routing them directly to their office station to work off of, but more ppl are wanting access,

any doc's or hints would be helpful

Let me get this straight. You want to use the VPN capabilities of the Pro 200 to allow some users to remotely connect to your network, right? Right now, you've configured the firewall to allow "remote access" traffic, so that your two people can get in, right?

First off, is the Pro 200 an older product? I'm not familiar with that model, however having a Pro 2040 myself, I might be able to help. Secondly, exactly how are those two people getting in for remote access?

yes the pro 200 is an older model. currently their boxes (inside the fire wall) are set-up with a static ip and the firewall is set up with 2 1-to-1 translations, and the boxes are set up to accept remote desktop connections, which was fine for the two of them, but now all of a sudden they want to add 4 more ppl into the mix and we only have 6 free public ip's let and really dont want to give up 4 more.....

I dont think the pro 200 supports port fowarding. Thats what your gonna need if you don't have enough public IP addresses. The only other thing i could think of is setting up a terminal server and have everyone use that.

I think JohnG75 wants to utilize the VPN abilities of the Pro 200. He wouldn't need to port forward anything if he can that working, right?

Johng75, what sort of documentation do you have for the Pro 200? I would think it should walk you through creating a VPN SA on the firewall for just this purpose. I'll see what I can find on the matter, too!

Yep your right. Guess I should have read the thing.

Does the pro 200 come with the vpn? or is that a upgrade like the pro 100. I've got pro 100's and a 230 so I'm not sure about the 200. But with the VPN client he will be able to vpn in to what ever machine he wants to. You just have to setup and use the group vpn sa

Skip whatever documentation came with the Pro 200; go out to SonicWall's website and find it there. First off, it'll be more up-to-date, and secondly, there might be updates that you'd have rather than the stock stuff that came with the unit. At the least, you should be able to find links for tech support, in case you need them.

I'm still looking for the documentation myself, too.

Go here for all the documentation for your Pro 200 firewall:

If you backtrack from that link, you should be able to find all other technical information for that firewall, including patches/firmware/etc.

I'm not washing my hands of this issue, if it sounds like it. Rather, since I don't know that product, it'd be easier for you to scan those docs yourself. Also, I'm more than willing to do VPN tests with you. I can be trusted.
