Hello,

i'm having a few problems removing a default printer under solaris. Admintool cannot see it, printmgr cannot see it. Each time i run a lpstat -dt it picks it up and i do not want that.

How can i delete it?

cheers

with SunOS 5.9

#lpadmin -x <printername>

or

#man lpadmin

Removing a Printer Destination
The -x option removes the destination printer

Hello,

cheers for that.

I have created the new printer with no problems but i just cannot remove the old one. Here is the output:-

lpstat -dt
system default destination: laser9_ne
scheduler is running
system default destination: laser9_ne
device for laser9_nw: /dev/null
system for _default: lonsdev1 (as printer laser9_nw)
character set
laser9_nw accepting requests since Wed 16 Mar 2005 11:13:50 AM GMT
_default accepting requests since Wed 16 Mar 2005 11:13:50 AM GMT
printer laser9_nw is idle. enabled since Wed 16 Mar 2005 11:13:50 AM GMT. available.

lpadmin -x laser9_ne
laser9_ne: unknown printer

The printer in question is laser9_ne, i have had a grub around and i just cannot locate it anywhere on the server. ANy ideas?

cheers

nick

You can also edit /etc/printers.conf and delete the entry for the default printer.

Ken is right... Make sure you execute commands "lpshut" and "/usr/lib/lpsched" after any change via command line.

/etc/printers.conf has only got the new printer in it and not the one that is causing the issue.

i have tried all the other solutions and that printer is still there.

i have no idea where its picking it up from.
