We use a job tracking front end and MS SQL2000 backend. The frontend software uses Crystal Reports as it's custom reporting tool. The last 2+ years the front end supported CR8.5 but not 9. I have written hundreds of reports in 8.5 and published them on the frontend software with no problems.

Recently the software vendor of the job tracking system released an update that supports CR9. This updates files on all the client computers because the frontend software acts as a viewer for CR, (mainly updates CR related viewing files). I am now having problems with Windows 98 SE computers. Some are minor but I do have one major problem. The Windows 98 SE computers can print to HP laserjet machines and the report will come out perfectly fine. When they print the same report to a Ricoh machine the details section of the report and any sub reports are shifted to the right ~1/8 of an inch. I have not yet converted the published reports to version 9 so nothing has changed but the ability to use CR9 reports.

For testing purposes I converted a report to version 9 and still have this printing problem with Win98 SE PCs. I've been told that CR is having problems with versioin 9 because they've made it completely unicode. This explains why my Win2000 and XP PCs have absolutely no problems with reports. I guess Win98 SE PCs are supposed to be unicode because they come packaged with at least IE 5.0 which has unicode capabilities but problems are still occurring.

Any suggestions or advise?

I also have run into this problem recently with CR9 and Windows 98. Some of the fields that are right-justified appear fine in the report viewer, however they are printed in the wrong place. This error only occurs from 1 computer in the office that has Windows 98. I was just wondering if installing the Microsoft file unicows.exe worked for you?

The unicows.exe was not an installable program. It has a readme.txt file in it and a unicows.dll with two other files for debugging.

I replaced the unicows.dll on the pc with this new one and nothing changed.

So no, it did not work for me unless I was doing something wrong.

I replaced the unicows.dll file & still encountered the same problems. Therefore, it must be some other problem that is going wrong.

Anyone have other suggestions??
