every time I try and set up our printer on an NT 4.0 workstation I get the following error at the end of the installation:
cannot set default printer
If I right-click the printer and print a test page it works. It works in MS word but will not work in MS Excel. It doesn't appear in the available printers list either.
It just will not let me set the printer as default. Is there a registry hack that will force the desired printer to default and appear in all applications.
This mostly happens when users log into another computer other than their own. Sometimes they have a printer that was removed a couple of months ago.
I have 14 NT 4.0 workstations and 1 NT 4.0 server SP6 with MS TCP/IP printing installed. The printer is a top of the range Richo photo copier/printer.
any advise will be greatly appreciated.
