gsr984dr,
If you are still out there and looking for an answer to this problem I have an answer - it might not be the best answer but, it is a solution the problem.
I believe the problem resides with the Mail Format setting you are using. From the main menu in Outlook, go to Tools\Options\ and click on the Mail Format Tab. Look at the setting for Message Format. You will most likely see that it is set for "HTML" - which is the default setting.
Change the setting to "Rich Text". Then close and re-open Outlook and send yourself a test message with an attached file. When you receive the message, highlight it and select File\Print Preview from Outlooks main menu. You should now see the attachment and will be able to print the message with the name of the file. I hope you find this helpful.
