I have a Compaq Deskpro C500 running win95. I have a Lava PCI printer port added on as LPT2: I have an Okidata ML520 on LPT1 and an Okidata ML590 on LPT2. Whenever I start the computer and try to print to either printer I get an illegal operation error. The details say that the program oncounterd an invalid page exception. This happens to both printers. It only happens the first time that I try to print after rebooting. Once it has failed the first time printing is fine. I have to print and fail to both printers.

I have tried deleting and reinstalling printers and ports. I have tried changing irq settings for the printers. (the lava originally had no irq setting, just an address). It is not crucial, since I can just print and fail and then get on with things. It is irritating. I have not heard of anyone else having this problem. Any Ideas?

Thanks

You didn't say whether it was ever working correctly.
Do you get a spool32 error?

have you tried using Epson printer drivers?
we've got some 590's at work, I'll get back to you tommorrow.

It did work before. We do not get any spool32 error. It just gives the illegal operation error. I currently have the okidata 520-ibm driver installed for the 92- and the okidata 590 driver for the 590. I have not tried any epson drivers. I will give ti a try. Thanks

I tried different drivers. (epson fx-100 and fx-80 and generic text.) It made no difference. We always fail the first print of the day, only on the local computer. I was considering removing the PCI card, to see if that resolves the problem with the local port> Any other thoughts?

Thanks
