We have a business ink jet shared on a server, and one of our clients maps to it and prints. Well, we recently upgraded the printer, and I don't know what happened, but the client can't print landscape any more. It doesn't even give him the option in any of the software (when printing to that printer, landscape to other printers works fine). Also, other computers can print landscape to that printer fine. I thought I'd try updating the drivers, didn't help. Then I thought I'd try removing the printer and adding it again, but when I go to remove it, I get the following dialog:

"Remove Printer:
Printer connection cannot be removed. Operation could not be completed."

Any ideas on how to get the printer out of there? I tried Technet with no luck. Thanks for any help!

What upgrade was performed on the printer?

Also, since only one computer is having the problem, I'd be looking at that computer. You said you upgraded drivers and tried to reinstall the printer, was that on the workstation?

Matt

We replaced the printer w/a new one. I tried updating the drivers on the workstation by going to the server properties and updating it through there. I also feel there is a problem with that one workstation, but like I said, I can't even get the printer removed.

What if you just try to make a new one without trying to remove the old one?

Matt

It still won't print landscape. When going to properties of the newly added printer, it still lists the old printer, and trying to remove the old printer w/the new one installed just removed the new one. Quite odd...

Have you tried an alternate driver? Almost all HPs have an alternate driver they can use. Not sure what model you are using. Can you list the old model and the new one?

Matt

I don't know the old one (they switched them before I started here), but the new one is a business ink jet 2280tn.

OK, got it going now. I notticed there were a few different print driver versions, so I removed them all except for the one it errored out on and said it was using. Then I just browsed and readded the printer in parallel to the older version. Still can't remove the older one, so I told the user to just ignore it. Messy fix but gets the job done. Thanks for the help mattjurado!!
