Hi,
A friend of mine is still using 3.1, despite him having problems like this one:
his printer, Cannon BJC420 wont print a document in write. it did before i swapped the printer for another one, but now it says "cannot print LPT1" busy. there's nothing in the print que. i tried adding the printer again and sending it a job but then it says "LPT2 busy".
any ideas?
also where can i get drivers for printer like the BJC420 for win 3.1?

cheers for anyone that can help

You may need to use drivers from an earlier printer. At some point manufacturers quit supporting earlier OS. Ed Fair
Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

Try changing settings for the printer port.
Under Control Panel -> Printers highlight the printer, click on Connect button. clear the box "Fast printing direct to port" (or check it if it is cleared).
If that does not work, connect the printer to LPT1.DOS instead of LPT1. That was meant to be used with laser printers, but hey... it may help.
Good luck.

The DOS setting worked a treat.
cheers pal.

That's worth a star for education-never heard of lpt1.dos before.
