Hi all
Hopefully someone can lead me in the right direction because Im going nuts with this one.
I have a remote site with 2 computers and a Canon i860 printer, the printer is connected to a Jetdirect print server. The machines and the print server are connected to a cisco 501 router (no hub).
Yesterday the external IP of the remote branch changed and they lost connection to our main network (vpn).
We fixed that issue and got the branch back on our network but ever since the change we have been unable to print anything to the printer. I can ping the IP of the print server, can connect through the webinterface and telnet into the print server but no print job will come out. The printjob shows it dies after 72 bytes of data has been sent to the printer.
Yesterday when we lost our connection to our main network the 2 machines could still print locally to the printer just fine...nothing IP address wise has changed internally.
I had the printer installed locally (lpt1) and it worked fine switching back to the print server causes it to crap out.

Anyone seen this before or know why this has stopped working ??

Thanks in advance.

MrRetro,
Because the IP of your router was changed, I would suspect that you will have to reconfigure that JetDirect box. Was it static? Do you know the IP of the JetDirect? If so, just clear it and reconfigure.

Regards,
David Tracy

Thanks for the replies

Leaving the printer and print server off overnight has appeared to solve the problem. All is well again.
