Two questions if anyone can help!
Firstly, I want to set up printer location tracking. In order to do this I realise that I need to set up the appropriate AD sites etc.
I have a couple of main sites and then various remote sites (still on fast links though) which log onto to the dcs in the main sites. i.e. I have defined a subnet of 172.16.0.0/16 which covers one main site and the remote sites without dcs (i.e. all of the 172.16.x.0/24 subnets). Currently the remote sites identify that they are in the 172.16.0.0/16 subnet and logon to the appropriate DCs. If I was to bin the 172.16.0.0/16 site and create a variety 172.16.x.0/24 sites for printer location tracking, surely this means the DCs will become part of one of the 172.16.x.0/24 sites. Therefore I am wondering how to control what subnet the remote sites will now use as their logon server (I don't want them just using any available). Hope this makes sense.... I suppose fundamentally I am asking how to control which DC sites without DCs' clients will log onto ?
Secondly - totally different problem but still printer related. How can I ensure that only certain computers print to a certain printer NOT users. i.e. users can only print to the machine in that room and not browse for a remote printer and send something to it... ? Is it a simple case of adding the computer account to the security section ?
Thanks
