Each time a friend of mine uses his printer while he is on the internet, his connection is dropped. Has anyone any ideas how to resolve this?

printer drops internet connection.....

The System is an HP 500. running Windows 98.
The printer is an Epson stylus 925.
The Modem is a Conexant Soft K56 Data Fax PCI
If it helps, his ISP is Freeserve.co.uk and they have been no help to him at all.

Connect the printer to a different USB port, and insert the modem into a different slot.
If no luck, then uninstall the printer's and the ISP's software from Add/Remove Programs, and reinstall both.
If still no good, then install a 'hardware' modem, which does not use the CPU like the Conextant winmodem.

Thanks ski, I changed the modem for an Ambiant ham and that has fixed the problem.
