Printer driver compatability

Hi,

Are printer drivers for XP the same as those for Windows 2000?

You see, one of my pieces of software release one printer driver for Windows 95/98 and another for 2000, but none that specifically says it's for XP.

I'm trying to get an answer from the manufacturer, but am still waiting.

Also, can a printer which only has drivers for 95/98 run on an XP PC? (I have another printer which may not have the latest drivers).

No, Each specific driver is builded for specific OS. Some times you can get away using printer driver 2k for XP. But it not very stable.

What about NT drivers under XP?

Can you give me an example of what you mean by "not very stable".

NT drivers HIGHLY NOT recommended.

Not stable is not stable.
Means: don't expect 100% accuracy and do expect problems.

What driver, printer or app are we talking about?
'Details' like that help towards the solution. The solution is out there.

Hi,

Seiko SLP-200 label printer.

Software they supply supports XP, but can only see printer drivers for 95/98/NT.
