Printer and CDROM conflict

Someone can tell me why my friend can't instal his HP 610CL printer on WinXP pro.

When he try it, he lost his CDROM drive on secondary master.

When he uninstal the printer, he must reboot and the CDROM come alaive again...

Any idea ???
