Print Settings in Word 97 - HP 5 Laserjet Networked Printer (NT4)

Under File, Print, Properties, paper tab settings and then the 'size is' drop down (in Word 97 sr2a) wont remember any changes made, I need it to remember 'A4', instead it keeps defaulting to 'Letter' on restarting word - pain!

This dialogue box has no 'set as default' button.

So I thought maybe the driver software on the server for the printer concerned may be over riding any settings made in Word but on comparing to other HP5 printers (enhanced driver) I have on my network its settings are the same.

So there must be something conflicting - any ideas anyone?
