I am having an issue on a Win98 machine on a Novell network. I am using NDPS and when I print using the Print Preview icon from a report, a dialog comes up asking me to save the report as a file????

Thanks

Hi Kevin,

Check the printer properties and make sure that the port hasn't been set to FILE:.

Mike

Only FoxPro applications are printing to a file when using the print Preview icon from a report. Also, only on this one machine. Other 98 machines are printing OK. When printing to a queue it works fine.

MS Word and Excel are printing fine.

You could have multiple instances of the printer installed going to different ports. MS Word and Excel could be using a different driver.

Failing that I would reinstall the printer altogether.

Mike

Kevin,

Is it possible that your printer driver is set to a "virtual" driver, like a PDF writer or fax driver? If so, VFP would still see it as a printer, but the driver would probably prompt for an output filename.

Try issuing:

? SET("PRINTER",2)

and checking the result.

No virtual driver. We reinstalled the printer drivers and no luck. The printer we are having issues with is a lexamark printer, If we change to an HP printer it works fine. However, one machine using the same Lexmark driver works and the other does not.

1 works, 1 don't, are they using the same OS? Are they both using the printer remotely?

I'm running out of ideas. Have you checked for an updated driver?

Mike
