I've got one printer attached directly to a windows 2000 pro machine. I want to track who logs on and then prints (and how many copies) to the attached printer.
I've shared the printer, set auditing on it and am still not getting any hits. I've given print permissions to the everyone group and those users who log on and receive a profile so I can see who it that logged on.
Tips or tricks out there? or even a walk through about starting this process from scratch?
Thanks

You need to turn on auditing of object access rights through the local policies. Then, you can specify what objects (printer) you want to audit. The audit files will be generated in the Security event console.

Thanks, I'll give this a shot.

tried that and a couple things maybe I need to refien in my question.
For one, Once I've defined the securtiy object I want to audit (the printer) it is also auditing successful access to the spooler, which I didn't want because tit creates mass entries in the security event viewer.
Secondly, I'm hoping o audit how many copies are created during a print event.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dan
