Hi All,

We are trying to replace the current BRI source for Video Conference with a PRI line using the BRI circuit pack TN556D. For each BRI extension we have allocated 2 ports each i.e 2 wire pairs for each extension. However, this does not seem to work. Are the wire pairs polarity sensitive ?

Need to have this working asap. Please help.

Ravi R.

Hi Colby007,

Thanks for ur suggestions but we need to have the Video Conf. on a BRI line obtained from a PRI trunk. Can u help me with that ?

Thanks,
Ravi R.

the above post is the terminations needed for a BRI card. The far right tells you which pair on the patch pannel to connect to.

I have a BRI TN556C in our PBX is wired to the terminations previously posted.

Ravi R,
I notice you mentioned 2 wire BRI(U interface). The interface from the Definity is 4 wire BRI (S/T interface). Most Video Conf. units accept 4 wire BRI and there is a converter that it plugs into that changes it to 2 wire. Bypass the external converter and try it again with 4 wires.

When using Bri lines from the PBX, they are simply data extensions. They are not associated with the PRI card at all. Only when you place an external call and have the route pattern pointed to use the ISDN PRI trunk group. We actually give our video units a unique COR and unique time of day table, so they get routed across a specific PRI trunk group no matter what number they dial. We have a mixture of PRI and non-PRI trunk groups. You could actually call station to station without using the ISDN PRI.

The BRI lines must terminate to an NTI device provided with the video unit. Redphone is correct - You will require an additional IMUX to convert the BRI(s/t) to BRI(u).

Avaya actually makes boards that supply both types. The tn556B is the 4 wire BRI(s/t) version.
Avaya actually
