I have noticed this problem before, but it hasn't been an issue until an important user had the problem ;)

They had an old wallpaper which they changed and now when the PC boots it displays the old wallpaper before changing to the new one. I looked in the registry under HKEY_USERS\control panel\desktop\wallpaper, but it was set to (none).

Thanks.

The cause is Active Desktop overriding your regular desktop settings. Try this:

set the standard desktop wallpaper to None in display properties. Then select the Active Desktop image that you want to use. pbxman

Yup exactly what pbxman says. I have had the same problem, and by the way if you dont want to enable active pages. Then just open that image that you want with paint and save it as a bmp. Then when you browse for it and select it as a desktop image it wont enable active pages because its a bmp, only jpg, and other image types will enable it.

Thanks, that makes perfect sense. I really appreciate it.

Another way to do it is set your background to none. hit ok.
Now press ctrl+alt+del the old background should be gone from the local profile. now cancel that and set yor new backgound. all done.

hope this helps __________________________________
