want to know how can i instanlty preview fonts in illustrator. tennxxx!!!

I have Illustrator 9.0 and I cant do this. Weird oversight if you ask me...
There are 2 ways around it - - If you have MSWord - you can open a blank document there and preview the fonts quickly and just alt-tab b/w the 2 windows....
or..
you could DL adobe type manager for free from this app lets you store all your adobe fonts and preview them as well.
Either way - it's not entirely convienent. I wonder if v. 10 has solved this oversight??
