Is there a way to prevent the user from deleting the tables by going into the database window and clicking on tables, and also prevent the user from opening the tables directly?

Hi

Depends how sophisticated the user is.

You could hide the database window which would prevent them (easily) accessing the tables directly

You could implement Access security

Hi, thanks for the response. I already have the dB window hidden. However, when a user hit F11, the window is revealed. Also, I do have access security incorpated. But a user with fairly Access knowledge will be able to access the db Window, how do I completely shut it off from the users (well, except for admin users).

I remember I used to bypass the SHIFT key way of opening the database and thus getting round the security. I can't rememebr the exact way of doing it but it involved accessing the properties hierarchy, deleting the AllowByPassKey property, then adding it again but with the property set to False.

Do a search on AllowByPassKey for more info.

Have fun!)

Here's a way to hide your tables. Unfortunately, it changes the table names which means you have to change every where they're called. Just put "Usys" in front of the name. eg. table Personal becomes UsysPersonal. And poof! They disappear. To see them you go to Tools - Options and check Hidden files.

Also threaten them with disciplinary trouble if they continue to go to the tables directly. Access security won't stand up to any sort of dedicated hacking attempts/circumvention.

The USys prefix and AllowBypassKey hurdles will work...for a while.
