Sometimes I want to manually prevent startup programs
from loading. I know I shouls press on shift or something.
What do I really need to press on?
Thnaks in advance

Are you referring to actual software or drivers etc ?

Yes I mean software (the startup programs that are
in the path: start->programs->startup
I'm using win98

check out
Start->Run type in msconfig then hit enter
go downto the last tab, and thats all the startup stuff(Even the stuff not located in the Startup folder), also when you boot up, I think you can prevent just the startup folder from going by holding shift during bootup, but use msconfig to uncheck something so it doesnt startup any time you boot up until you turn it back on.
Karl
kb244@kb244.8m.com
<a href=
Experienced in : C++(both VC++ and Borland),VB1(dos) thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, HTML, Visual InterDev 6(ASP(WebProgramming/Vbscript)
There are two ways two main ways to permanently remove programs from starting. 1. Delete what is in startup folder. 2. Edit the registry (the clean way) 3. Or, do as kb244 has suggested and go through msconfig.

If you would like more intructions on how to edit the registry just ask and I will give you detailed intructions.
