whatever, i am returning to read and understand poff poff.:)
thank you.

Most if not all of the internet connections that occur when Media Player 10 connects are harmeless to you.

What is it that you what to block?

You could just use your firewall to block WMP from being allowed to connect if you never want it to connect under any circumstances.

himms, in fact not for security purposes. my computer slows down as it tries to connect for may be 30 seconds at most.and it murmurs for a while.:)
i wonder basically.

It might not be the connection that is slowing it down. When you first start Media Player it will look in the directories that you have spcified to see if any new media has been added.

As a default the locations are

c:\documents and settings\all users\documents\my music
c:\documents and settings\all users\documents\my video
c:\documents and settings\(Your User Name)\documents\my music
c:\documents and settings\(Your User Name)\documents\my video

Depending on the speed of your machine/The size of the folders and the amount of new media added this could take some time.

You can try removing the folders from the monitoring section and see if perfomance improves.

Tools > Options > Library Tab > Monitor Folders Button > Remove Folders and then restart Machine. If it doesn't help then you can add them back in.
