I was asked if we can give User rights to pick a date for the Report. I do not want to use just pop-up criteria window. How can I make it then look presentable?
I am thinking if I used Access it would be a form with text boxes etc. Does Crystal 9.0 have an interface ability?

I know...it will not be pretty though. I need no pop-up parameter window but a form or something.

Your stating "a form or something" is quite vague. Also, define "an interface ability". All Versions of Crystal write Reports, IT'S NOT a database interface like Access.

So the only option for Parameters will be a pop-up window to enter info in? How sad. But if it is the only option I will use it.

One more. I will be prompting users for the dates of the week from-to, another week from-to, year from-to, so should they fill into 6 promts?

You can specify range in your parameter. You will still have 6 input values but 3 prompts with each prompt asking you for a start and end range.

On 11 OCT you started thread767-1135301 , which was basically the same question. Turkbear (one of the Alpha Geeks arouund here) and I tried to tell you -"Crystal is a reporting tool, not a Database interface". Your stating in this post "So the only option for Parameters will be a pop-up window to enter info in? How sad." suggest to me that you still don't get it. If I, repeat I, am missing something, please let me know.

Thanks for your help.
So if I will create several Reports for my users to run I will have to create directory with CR folder and have all .rpt files sit there and have user to pick a right one and run it with parameters input?

Who are your users? It may be a moot point if the users do not have Crystal installed or you are not using the enterprise version.

You might be able to use distributed report but I am not sure how that works. With Crystal 8.5, I was able to create a compiled version of the report but that went out in Version 9.

Are the parameters random or can they be calculated based on the current date. If random, then you are stuck with user input. Otherwise, you can calculate the parameters based on the current date.

Usera are internal, everyone has CR installed. They will input dates for which they want to see the Report.
So we don't have compile version in CR 9.2?

No, compiled reports is an option that went away with Crystal 9 and later versions.

You can use Crystal Enterprise or RAS on a server to allow users to run reports with just a browser.

Alternatively, you can install a Crystal viewer application on each PC that needs to just run the reports. For a list of 3rd-party viewers, see:

Hi,
( Alpha Geek, eh! [ponder] ) - The user interface for CR ( as opposed to CE) is set in stone, unless you want to build a VB ( or .NET ) app that embeds the CR report object and uses custom forms to gather User input.

Search for the sample RDC or SDK apps at the Business Objects support site.
