I have a new system v2 that came with 7.0 software. I upgraded it to the latest 8.0.18 software and installed all my licenses. Now I am getting a error "Preferred Edition license is present but no Essential edition or Software Upgrade license". My preferred edition, preferred edition additional ports, Advanced, and all my power user license show "Dormant". I upgraded the day I powered the system on so I'm in my 90 day window. Do we have to have essential AND preferred installed now on 8.0?

You needed to make/attempt an external call while on R7 to start the 90 day clock, then you get the free essential edition licence, rolling back to R7 and doing as mentioned may work now, if not its licence time :)

Indeed.

Put it back to 7.0.xx
Then make a call and hang up.
I made some internal and external calls (just wait for the waiting for line)
Then i upgraded it to 8.0.18 (not 8.0.16)
Then you will get a virtual essential edition license.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Thanks that seemed to work and all of my liceses show valid again. I don't show a virtual essential liceses though. Will this problem come back to haunt me? I did have liceses already in there and didn't know if that is why. Should I delete all my liceses and do it again?

Thanks,

Nevermind, I am blind and didn't see it. Star for both of you!!

I had the same issue on our new demo. It worked. Thanks guys!!

Does anyone know if that 90 days start with the first call because of the cabinet or the SD card? The reason I ask is because I have a couple of SD cards I would like to upgrade but not if the 90 day clock starts.

It is the IP500V2 itself and not the SD card.

Indeed, so when you swap the chassis due to failure etc then you need to repeat the procedure :)

This is the current maint release we are discussing, it is still the chassis that is "virtually licenced" :)

No. You still need to make a call first on R7, then upgrade. The upgrade to R8.0.18 was supposed to fix the issue, but it did not.

I have the same issue as all of you, but how do you downgrade back to R7 when you are at 8.18?

Be sure that you have the files and point the working directories in manager to that place.
I always install manager and then make a copy of that folder ande rename it Manager_7_0_31 or whatever version it is.

Then when i need to do these kind of stuff then i change the working directory and upgrade it.
