Hi at all,
is there a "best" version of networker in an windows environment. I'm using 6.2, but I'm wondering a little, why I cannot find a command reference guide for this version and most of the web ressources refer to 6.1.x or 7.0.

6.2 was just a kind of "interim" version with the major
feature of the NW/Windows server supporting NDMP clients.
As this feature was available for 6.x for UNIX, this did
not need to be described further, although i agree that such
a note would make sense

The most closest is version NW 7.0 - if you do not need any
more features i would already install it because Legato
made big improvements to robustness of the media database.

Thanks.

Is an update license needed to change from 6.2 to 7.0?

You will require an update enabler to go from 6.x to 7.x. Contact Legato licensing for details.
