I wish to distribute a ppt file as a tutorial. If the target computer uses the Power Point reader the ppt file opens and runs properly. But if the target machine has Power Point installed then the file opens in the Sort mode and the user has to click on the button to View the Show.

Is there a way to format the ppt file so that it will run rather than open to edit.

Try saving as a .pps - powerpoint show

Hope that helps!

I could not seem to save it as a pps file. I did make a copy and rename it to a pps file and that seems to work. Thank you so much.

Norm,

renaming the file from .ppt to .pps is just the same as opening the file in powerpoint and

File>Save As...>Powerpoint Show (as the filetype)

Either way works.

The file is actually still the same...it's just that your computer is set to "show" pps' and edit ppts'

I did not look at the Save As file filter. Again many thanks for your help. It now opens as it should.

I had a very similar problem, but with a slight twist to it. Maybe some of you can shed some light on my problem as well:

thread1115-714591 don't think that it's possibile but then again, stranger things have happened.

Thanks,
