Hi,
Does anybody know can I use the metallic cable like in picture instead of fiber-optic and two shortrange transivers to interconnect PPN and EPN Definity G3R (version 11)?
PPN stays rigth beside the EPN.
What signals are necessary and sufficient ?

Thank you.

Have you tried doing this? I've installed Definity's for a lot of years. I don't know why it wouldn't work. I think the original idea for using fiber was because not all cabinets reside in the same switch room. You will not need any transceivers. You will need to make certain your EI boards are a high enough level to work on the R11. I heard from our Avaya business partner that according to Avaya's tier III engineers the TN570 must be a "C" version 7 or above.

Thanks for your replay.
The reason of my question is that I had the fault of optical transceiver one week ago and I did not know what to do with the EPN's boards while the avaya is sending me new transiver.
This cable could be a savior for me for that moment but I found this picture later after I builded a little ecs Definity connected to PPN by DS-1 instead of EPN.
I have TN570Ds.
I didn't try this metallic cable yet but I want to try.
To make this cable I need to understand what signal from the back panel bus of TN570 I should use?
I think that is no reason to transfer +5V from PPN to EPN... Why they show it on the picture? May be some signals are necessary only to connect Switch Network to Expansion Interface? May be I could not use some signals

In a G3R, the expansion interface card located in a port carrier in the PPN cabinet is connected to the SNI carrier located in the same PPN via a metallic cable with 25 pair connectors on each end. Expansion interface cards located in EPN cabinets are connected via fiber. It seems to me that this cable should work in an emergency situation.

O.k.
I will try to make the cable with only two wires
XMT_DAT and RCV_DAT conected like in picture.
I think it should be enough.
Thanks
