update-

I went and checked out the computer it was crashing on. The pictures are just jpgs and aren't that large - total file size is 1.23mb.

I check to make sure computer was updates, virus def, spyware etc....

ran detect and repair.

uninstalled office.

re-installed.

still not working.

The file works on every other computer I run it on.

Is the file located on a network drive if so do a test copy it to the local disk and try doing the same thing. Does it still crash ? If it does then its a speed problem/possible network problem. You could also try logging onto the machine locally with no network connection and open the file from say a local drive to prove this as well.

What is the machine spec in terms of memory, RAM etc. What operating system is this ? Are there any other applications open or minimised try with nothing else opened. Have a look at task manager, memory and processess running. Anything that is accessing a large bit of memory. Try disabling things like virus checkers just for a second to try to elimiate this from the problem.

Have you checked the event viewer to see if there is any clues in there as to what is causing the problem? Try leaving the file opening for about an hour does it ever open ? I have seen lots of people who have a slow network connection wait 5 mins and then say its crashed when they click on it instead of waiting. Seems to be nature to just keep clicking on something if it doesn't work after 30 seconds several times !!
